Misinformation. Disinformation. False Narratives. Conspiracy Theories...
These are the tools of con-men and dictators, both large and small. While such tactics aren't new, their scope and danger have never been greater. A century ago, emerging communication technologies contributed to some of history's most horrendous events. Today, with advances in information technology, instant communication, and AI, we face the potential for even greater threats. What can we do? Join the Reality-Based Community to foster a commitment to truth and reality.

The Reality-Base Community
The Reality-Based Community (RBC) is a valuable concept to help lead us out of our current crisis. Aspire to Truth. Demand Truth. Our goal is to strengthen personal commitments to these principles and spread them until they become the majority standard in public discourse, politics, and governance. We aim for a world where public office is only achievable by those committed to fact-based decision-making, REGARDLESS OF PARTY OR IDEOLOGY. Start with a simple Card and support this movement!
What We Promise
We start with one promise: a $5 card. This card is our bootstrap, the beginning of a campaign to elevate the importance of facts, evidence, and truth in our culture and politics. The Card is just the first step. With your support, we will expand our communications efforts, increase our social media presence, develop tools to spot and explain misinformation, stimulate fact-checked debates, and grow our community.
The Reality-Based Community. Some Background.
The phrase 'Reality-Based Community' first appeared in a 2004 New York Times Magazine article by Ron Suskind. A senior advisor to George W. Bush criticized Suskind for being part of the 'reality-based community,' defining it as people who 'believe that solutions emerge from judicious study of discernible reality.' The advisor added, 'that's not the way the world really works anymore.' The exchange crystallized the understanding that those outside the reality-based community have felt a growing comfort in pushing agendas based on fabricated facts and gaining power through lies and false narratives. This comfort has now reached crisis levels.
What is Reality Anyway?
Don't get us wrong. Everyone has the right to shape their reality, but not to avoid facts and evidence or use false manipulative means to achieve that reality. We each have Personal Reality, influenced by beliefs. There's Social Reality, the collective norms shaping our world. But at the base is Physical Reality—the universe's unalterable truths. Ignoring or subverting Physical Reality in shaping individual or social realities diminishes us, leading to today's profound challenges.
Make it Real!
Please join us in this effort to make it real. THANK YOU!
